For us to use the resources that we have to our benefit.
- How are you supporting Ghana and the Ghanaian community?
I am a director on a foundation known as Miss Ghana UK Foundation, we develop the socio-human capital of Ghana by improving the quality of people’s lives through appropriate and sustainable social interventions in identified areas.
I support the youth both here in the UK and in Ghana, In the UK started a Mentoring Program called ‘Big Sister Big Brother’, where we mentor the youth in various aspects of society today, grooming young ladies for the Miss Ghana UK pageant to enable them to build on their personal strengths and expertise to develop their character and confidence for their future, and also help them to build and develop the initiatives that are set up by the miss Ghana foundation to help the Ghanaian community both here and in Ghana.
Creating sickle cell awareness and mental health amongst the youth. In Ghana I work on several initiatives which I am passionate about, main ones are supporting an orphanage, Keep A Dream Alive!- Awarding bursaries to deserving Young people between the ages of 16-26 in Ghana, thankfully with the support of WorldRemit we were able to bring a young lady’s dream to life in 2017.
We’ve just started a new initiative called the ‘Apound4apad’ where we support the Accra psychiatric hospital.
- What advice or guidance would give to others wanting to help support Ghana and Ghanaians to achieve their ambitions and to support their community?
Like Nelson Mandela said ‘a winner is a dreamer who never gives up’ so when we have a talent and want to make something out of it, we need to be persistence until we attain our goal.
